Preparations are now underway for the Queen’s state funeral, which will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday, September 19, 2022.
The day of the state funeral is declared a “Day of National Mourning”.
The Queen's state funeral WILL be a bank holiday after King Charles gave his approval.
Penny Mordaunt, the Lord President of the Council of Accession, revealed a proclamation has appointed the day of the funeral as a bank holiday across the UK.
Ms Mordaunt said: "Drafts of two proclamations. One - appointing the day of Her late Majesty's state funeral as a bank holiday in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
"Two - appointing the day of Her late Majesty's state funeral as a bank holiday in Scotland.

"And of two orders in council, directing the Lord Chancellor to affix the great seal to the proclamations."
King Charles answered: "Approved."
At midday on that day, there will be two minutes of silence across the nation.
The service will be led by the Archbishop of Canterbury and will be attended by the Royal Family, politicians and heads of state from across the globe.
Her Majesty passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022.

Her funeral will take place on Monday, September 19.
This will then be a bank holiday in England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland.
According to documents leaked in September 2021, the Queen’s funeral is part of the code name Operation London Bridge.
The plans include detailed preparations for heightened security, arrangements for overseas visitors and transport for tourists arriving in London to attend the funeral.
What will close on the day of the Queen's funeral?
Banks and the London Stock Exchange will be closed on the day, as part of the traditional state funeral.
Although it has been called a bank holiday, closures are down to a "discussion between individuals and their employer".
The government's statement said: "There is no statutory entitlement to time off for bank holidays, but employers may include bank holidays as part of a worker’s leave entitlement.
“The government cannot interfere in existing contractual arrangements between employers and workers.
"However, we would expect that many workers will be able to take the day off on the bank holiday.
"We also expect employers to respond sensitively to requests from workers who wish to take the day of the funeral off work.”
Schools will also be closed on September 19 so that staff and students can mourn the death of Her Majesty.
The government added: "We are not asking schools to remain open on the day of the bank holiday."
