Prince Charles ‘planned one-on-one dinner’ with son Harry when he returned to the UK – but was ‘dreading’ it

PRINCE Charles planned a one-on-one dinner with his son Harry - but was "dreading" it in case he said the wrong thing, it has been claimed.

The Duke of Sussex returned to the UK from his LA home for the unveiling of Princess Diana's memorial statue this month.

It is just the second time Harry has returned to the UK since he quit the Royal Family - the first visit seeing the duke attend his grandfather Prince Philip's funeral.

While the 36-year-old seemed in good spirits for his July visit - seen smiling with brother William - it has been reported tensions still remain between Harry and his family.

The Sun previously revealed his dad Charles would be in Scotland for the unveiling and would not see his son.

the father and son had planned to meet with a "one-on-one" dinner.

It was claimed the future king, 72, had planned to fly back from Scotland to see his son and thrash things out after Harry's string of explosive claims about the Royal Family.

However, it is unclear if the meeting did occur.

Instead, it has been claimed Charles was "dreading" the dinner - potentially over fears the meeting could be misconstrued.

The couple have made their home in the US after dramatically quitting the Royal Family soon after marrying.

And they have since made a string of explosive comments about life with the Royals.

Harry was particularly critical of Charles - accusing him of making him "suffer".

In the doc with Oprah - The Me You Can't See - the Duke of Sussex said: "My father used to say to me when I was younger, he used to say to both  and I, 'Well, it was like that for me so it’s going to be like that for you.'

"That doesn’t make sense. Just because you suffered, that doesn’t mean your kids have to suffer. Actually quite the opposite.

"If you suffered, do everything you can to make sure that whatever negative experiences you had, you can make it right for your kids."

It was just one candid interview from the Sussexes, who also sat down with Oprah to speak about their decision to quit the Firm.

Harry spoke about trying to get help from his family during this difficult time when his wife was "struggling" while she was pregnant with their son Archie.

"I thought my family would help, but every single ask, request, warning, whatever, it is just got met with total silence, total neglect," he said.
