THE official trailer for Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey’s mental health documentary series The Me You Can't See was released on Monday, May 17, 2021.
The Apple TV+ series premieres on Friday May 21 and features contributions from Lady Gaga, DeMar DeRozan of the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs, and actress Glenn Close, along with everyday people.
Who is Syrian refugee Fawzi?
The documentary will feature a Syrian refugee named Fawzi.
The docu-series will aim to tell the "truth" about people’s emotional well-being and Fawzi is just one individual taking part.
In the trailer the youngster says of mental health issues: "I'm afraid of it.".
The synopsis of the series reads: “The Me You Can’t See is a new docuseries co-created by Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry, that explores mental health and emotional well-being with stories from people around the world.
"With storytelling at its core, this timely series gives a voice to stories that aim to seek truth, understanding and compassion. It’s about people, our experiences, and why we feel the way that we do.”
Why does Syrian refugee Fawzi feature in the Prince Harry Oprah documentary?
In the trailer a voice states: "Fawzi's friends are heroes. I really truly believe that we are heroes."
The youngster is seen splashing in the sea and looks to be living in a refugee camp.
The documentary is expected to feature Fawzi's story along with that of others - celebrities as well as those out of the limelight.
According to the Sussex's Archewell website, Oprah and Harry want to have an "honest discussions about mental health and emotional wellbeing while opening up about their personal journeys and struggles."
The website said the show offers a glimpse into the diverse stories of mental health and emotional well-being. - and Fawzi's is one of these stories.
Harry draws upon his own experiences with mental health issues.
In one of the clips shown in the two-minute long trailer, archive footage from the 1997 funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales, shows Harry standing with his head bowed as his mother’s coffin passes by.
Harry is shown sitting down with Oprah saying: “To make that decision to receive help is not a sign of weakness. In today’s world, more than ever, it is a sign of strength."
He adds: “We are born into different lives, brought up in different environments, and as a result are exposed to different experiences. But our shared experience is that we are all human.
“The majority of us carry some form of unresolved trauma, loss, or grief, which feels—and is—very personal.
"Yet the last year has shown us that we are all in this together, and my hope is that this series will show there is power in vulnerability, connection in empathy, and strength in honesty.”
Archie is also shown in the clip sitting on his mother's lap in footage filmed around the time of his first birthday.
Meghan Markle makes a brief appearance in the new trailer, coming into shot at Harry’s side wearing a T-shirt with the slogan “Raising the Future”.
Oprah is known to be a friend of the couple, attending their 2018 wedding at Windsor castle.
