THIS is the moment a woman batters a man she claims tried to sexually assault her in a lift, according to reports in China.

In the clip, the pair get into the lift before the man is seen circling the woman and approaching her from behind - after which she appears to pummel him to the floor with just three blows.

The Sun Online could not independently verify the video's authenticity, but the actress purportedly at the centre of it claims it was a genuine attack.

Initially the man is seen leaning back and looking at the woman, before walking behind her and appearing to peer over her shoulder.

But the recently resurfaced video shows the woman sidestepping him and as she puts her phone away, he backs off before approaching her again.

This time, he slyly slides a hand over her shoulder - but the woman acts swiftly, appearing to first elbow his hand away and then turning to slap him.

He is then seen approaching her from behind - before she sidesteps away

And she doesn't stop there - she then appears to kick out at him, forcing him to double over and finally driving her knee into his head, leaving him in a crumpled heap.

While the 2016 clip has gone viral, some have cast doubt on its authenticity and whether it has been staged.

The woman has since been identified as a TV presenter and actress Du Qiao, who was also reportedly dating prominent Chinese fighter 'Fire Kirin' Xu Wei.

However the actress has fervently denied accusations the clip was staged and insisted she was provoked.

She told Chinese media : "I was just minding my own business, but he forced a reaction from me."
