THIS is the heartstopping moment a Humpback whale leaps out of the ocean, just inches from a tourist boat in Costa Rica.
In the footage, the giant creature can be seen almost nose to nose with the boat as it emerges from the sea swell and violently crashes back into the water.

Filmed by a neighbouring whale-watching boat off the coast of Queopos, the camera initially focuses on the rolling seas and birds flying over the water.
Suddenly, the whale breaks through the surface to the right of the tourist boat.
As terrified tourists scream, the whale seems to almost come completely upright, towering over the small vessel.
The whale then crashes back into the ocean leaving the boat engulfed in an enormous splash and appears to be left rolling in the wake of the mammoth mammal.
