Kim Jong-un warns Joe Biden the US is North Korea’s ‘principal enemy’ as he vows to build the ‘most powerful military’’

KIM Jong-Un issued a stark warning to his "principal enemy" President-elect Joe Biden - after boasting about his mass military expansion.

The dictator has spent days asserting his plans for maximum military power and greater nuclear war deterrence at a party conference.

Regarded as one of the biggest political events of the country, the Workers Party Congress was the second longest congress in history.

The Supreme Leader was keen to take the opportunity to intimidate Joe Biden just a week before his official inauguration, as Kim unveiled grand plans to develop an advanced new nuclear weapons arsenal.

“By accelerating the push to make our military more elite and strong, we need to have them thoroughly prepared to play their role against any form of threats or unexpected situations,” he said.

At the meeting, Kim Jong-un pledged to begin major expansion of their nuclear capabilities, rigorous research into military technology and the production of a military reconnaissance satellite.

The North Korean leader then branded the US, "the fundamental obstacle to the development of our revolution and our foremost principal enemy".

'The real intention of its policy toward the DPRK will never change, whoever comes into power," he continued, a clear swipe at Biden taking office, without mentioning him by name.

It comes as tensions between the two countries continue to remain highly volatile, with Kim consistently dubbing the US his country's "arch-enemy".

Just days ago he unveiled plans for his new weaponry, while telling the Eighth Congress: "The efforts will focus on overpowering and bringing them to their knees".

He and Donald Trump had a stormy relationship during his presidency - they slung insults at each other, sparked fears of World War III, and boasted about their nuclear abilities.

Yet the pair soon grew into an unlikely diplomatic bromance, with the US president declaring his love for Kim and taking part in historic summits.

However, it seems a much more turbulent relationship lies ahead with Joe Biden - who has previously branded Kim a "thug" and criticised his summits with Trump.

North Korea has previously labelled Biden a "rabid dog", that "must be beaten to death with a stick."

The inevitable altercations seem the most accurate reason for North Korea's huge weapons overhaul, as the country confirmed plans for terrifying hypersonic missiles capable of wiping out multiple US cities.

The new intercontinental ballistic missiles were unveiled at the Party Foundation Day military parade in October that could carry two warheads - now North Korea plans to increase it to four.

Analysts believe the huge missiles are the largest road-mobile, liquid-fuelled missile in the world.   

North Korean authorities reportedly believe hypersonic missiles, with their high speed, ability to fly at low altitudes could prove a “game changer” that will “shake up” world military order. 

However, Kim admitted last week that his five-year economic plan had failed, as he blamed international sanctions as well as the coronavirus pandemic and a number of natural disasters.

North Korea has recently become more isolated than ever, after closing its borders to stop the spread of the deadly virus.

He said: "Almost all sectors fell a long way short of the set objectives" in the country's previous economic plan.
