Is Meghan Markle vegan and is baby Archie being raised on a meat-free diet?
MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry are said to want to raise their newborn son on a vegan diet.
But will Archie be a plant-based eater? Here's the latest on the dietary requirements of the seventh in line to the throne.
Is Meghan Markle a vegan?
The Duchess of Sussex, 37, has never confirmed she is vegan.
However, reports suggest Meghan eats a plant-based diet during the week - with Harry now said to be opting for "less meat and more fruit and veg".
The pair were also said to have been following a healthier lifestyle ahead of the birth.
While Meghan has always been keen on yoga, the pair are thought to have built a "floating yoga studio" at their new home in Windsor, which is reported to be decorated "in vegan paint".
Will she raise the royal baby meat-free?
If Meghan and Harry did want their child to follow a similar diet, it's likely the young royal wouldn't be completely vegan.
Royal sources have claimed that the Duchess - who once joked she's a "hippie chick" - has requested Frogmore Cottage be kitted out with its own mother-and-baby yoga room complete with a "floating" floor.
The royal is understood to enjoy vinyasa yoga and hot yoga and used to regularly post snaps to her social media.
On a visit to Birkenhead earlier this year, 34-year-old Harry told Buddhist monk Kelsang Sonam that he practises meditation “every day”.
Team GB athlete Lisa Gawthorne, 37, who is also a vegan and runs Bravura Foods, said: "A vegan royal baby could be just what the UK needs to drive home the message that we can’t continue eating meat at the rate that we do. Due to the impact on the environment, there won’t be a nice future for any other babies or future generations to grow up in if we don't reduce the rate at which we eat meat now.
"I sincerely hope they do go ahead with the vegan diet, as it would set a real precedence and a great example for others to follow in a time when there are more vegan couples than ever before – this is only going to equate to more vegan babies being raised across the millennial generation and generation Z, which will in turn have a positive effect on the planet.
"It’s a shame the Queen has been quoted as being unhappy about the decision, as countless studies prove it’s the kindest and most compassionate thing you can do for the planet, the environment, animals and your own health too. The actual benefits to the body of following a plant-rich diet are extremely significant and a healthy baby makes for a happy baby!"
