Family’s heartbreaking tribute to boy, 10, killed by lorry while out cycling

The young boy's family said: 'He was a very much-loved son, brother, nephew and grandson... He will be sorely missed by all'

THE family of a 10-year-old schoolboy who died after being hit by a lorry have said "words cannot express their devastation".

Kastytis Dambrauskas was hit by a lorry as he cycled in Cambridgeshire last Monday, July 16.

Paramedics and police were called to the crash site shortly after 8.30am but he was pronounced dead at the scene on Weasenham Lane, between the B198 Cromwell Road and Sandall Road, south of Wisbech.

According to , in the heartbreaking tribute, Kastytis Dambrauskas' family said: "Words cannot express the devastation we are feeling following the loss of Kastytis. He was a very much-loved son, brother, nephew and grandson.

"He will be sorely missed by all.

"He was a keen swimmer and loved being in the water. If he wasn’t swimming he was listening to music."

They continued: "We are incredibly grateful for the help and support we have received as a family but we would now like to ask that we are left alone at this tough time to grieve in private."

At the time of his death, hundreds of people have expressed their condolences to the family of the tragic schoolboy on social media.

One person wrote: "RIP little angel. My thoughts to his family."

Another added: "That boy was my son's friend, they live next to us. My son is his age, I still cannot believe this."

While Sam Harris wrote on Twitter: "It's sad as the lad lives down my road and I only saw him playing the other day with the other kids."

The market town of Wisbech lies in the far north east of Cambridgeshire, near to the border with Lincolnshire.

Cambridgeshire Police have made no arrests so far and continue to investigate.
