Hero SAS sniper records 100th kill after battling ISIS in Iraq and Afghanistan
War veteran kills ISIS chief with single bullet as battle for Mosul rages on
A DEADLY SAS sniper has successfully scored his 100th kill after blasting an ISIS chief during the battle of Mosul.
The soldier, a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, killed the 'high value' target during the fierce fight for the ISIS stronghold.
He was struck by a single bullet which punched through his armour killing him instantly.
SAS troops have begun probing the outskirts of the city as Iraqi special forces close in.
The senior ISIS commander had established his HQ in a compound that was once a base for former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
The target was stalked by SAS snipers for a week as they hid one kilometre from the front gates of the compound waiting to catch their man.
Inside the compound more than 100 men, women and children had reportedly been tortured and murdered by the terrorist commander and his henchmen.
Drones were also used to drop two 500lb bombs inside the compound, killing dozens of militants with survivors attempting to flee in vehicles which were rounded on by Iraqi troops armed with machine guns.
The Isis commander tried to escape but was identified by the SAS sniper through his telescopic sight and was shot dead.
The soldier used a Barrett M82 Light 50 rifle which can fire a 0.50 inch calibre round over more than a mile.
Following the attack the SAS withdrew to a base south of the war torn city.
When the deadly sniper returned to file his report it was only then he received the news he had notched up 100 kills.
The source added: "The sniper came to Iraq with around 60 kills but in the last few weeks there has been a lot of killing and he lost count of the number of terrorists he had put in the ground."
Defence sources claim the century of kills place the decorated soldier at the top of the elite regiment’s list of sharpshooters.
ISIS rats fleeing from Mosul are resorting to ever more outlandish women’s outfits including full make-up, wigs and even padded bras in a bid to escape capture.
Meanwhile, last month a thousand civilians were killed during the bloody battle for the city as the fighting continues to intensify.
Shocking pictures have also emerged of emaciated children fighting for life in the battlefront city of Mosul.
