Who is Tayshan Hayden-Smith from Your Garden Made Perfect?
YOUR Garden Made Perfect returns to BBC Two in February 2022.
So let's take a look at one of the show's garden owners, Tayshan Hayden-Smith, who looks to share his creative skills on the show.
Who is Tayshan Hayden-Smith?
Tayshan Hayden-Smith was born and raised in North Kensington, near Grenfell Tower.
Growing up, he was keen footballer and was nicknamed 'the English Neymar'.
Tayshan had trials with several English football teams - including Crystal Palace, Fulham, Newcastle and Watford - and also spent a season in Austria playing for FC Kitzbuhel.
But becoming a dad at 17, losing his mum in his early 20s and the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire have all played a part in him taking a completely different path.
When he realised the extent of what happened at Grenfell, he decided to not extend his contract with FC Kitzbuhel and stay with his family.
Tayshan found a new passion when he began picking up plants from local nurseries and created a garden out of them - the Grenfell garden of peace.
He took up guerrilla gardening and became known as the 'Grenfell guerrilla gardener'.
Describing gardening as a form of activism, he wants to help change the perception that gardening is for elderly people.
Tayshan now works on projects with Danny Clarke, also known as The Black Gardener.
He has set up his own non-profit organisation called which focuses on empowering and inspiring young people through horticulture, while making it more inclusive.
Despite his dedication to gardening, Tayshan continues to play football.
After nearly three years at Rising Ballers, he moved in December 2020. To Grenfell Athletic.
