Salt Bae’s restaurant Nusr-et slated in reviews as food is ‘served COLD’ and branded ‘pub grub’
SALT Bae's "ridiculous" London restaurant has been blasted for serving "cold food" and "pub grub" in scathing online reviews.
Turkish-born internet icon Nusret Gökçe has hit the headlines for the extravagant prices at his upmarket Knightsbridge eatery - with a £850 gold-coated steak and a £100 burger both on offer.
But brutal reviews have questioned its value for money, with raging diners dubbing it a "rip off" and "not up to standard".
A Trip Adviser reviewer - who went to the restaurant with three others last Friday - said: "At the start they couldn’t find our reservation. After all, they offered us a table upstairs. We agreed.
"Apparently 'upstairs' is actually outside. I wasn’t happy seating outside, as it was really cold.
"A waiter re-assured us that it’s going to be nice and warm and turned two heaters on.
"Ten minutes later a manager came and turned heaters off and told us they don’t have a license to use gas heaters.
"Nobody even apologised for that. We were promised table inside.
"That’s fine, we ordered food. The second we ordered food - we been told they aren’t gonna give us table inside, because they are too busy.
"We were so cold, next morning I woke up with a sore throat.
Food arrived cold too."
He said the service he received was "terrible" and the food "wasn't even nice".
He added: "It was the worst experience and the worst food we had, for the money we have spent. Just ridiculous."
The astounding prices have caused controversy online.
One reviewer said the prices are "astronomical" for a "pub quality menu".
On review website Square Meal, one disgruntled diner wrote: "Luckily I have a few quid in my back pocket but the prices here are just fraudulent.
"The Gold Burger for £100 was super dry and was totally average.
"Harvester does a better burger and that no lie. The £200 steak was so poor I was actually flabbergasted.
"It was like having a poor steak at Miller & Carter on a bad day.
"Just obscene money for products that are not up to the standard. It's basically not gastronomy at its finest, it's an over priced theatre show."
But others told of positive experiences at the restaurant, with one happy customer calling the steak "to die for".
Another reviewer said: "I went to this restaurant for a family celebration and found it was the perfect place.
"The food was perfect and plentiful - steak to die for and baklava with ice cream in the middle, that melted in the mouth.
"The restaurant was clean and classy with spotless kitchens. The staff were professional and attentive."
