NEIGHBOURS of Coronation Street star Colson Smith say they are fuming about “rubbish being left around” after he was branded an “inconsiderate a**e” for not recycling properly.
The actor, who lives with co-star Ben Price, said he was “petrified” after upsetting residents in his apartment block, just minutes from where the soap is filmed.
One neighbour even raged he had "ruined things for everyone else" with his actions.
The building managers have since put up notices warning residents not to treat the bin and recycling area as a “rubbish dump” and it was “lazy and unfair” to leave in the “disgusting state” its been in recent weeks.
Photographs of bins overflowing with rubbish and surrounded by boxes have also been shared with residents alongside the warnings.
One resident, who didn’t wish to be named, blasted: “Recycling has become a big problem.
“People leave all sorts of stuff lying around.
“And there are always cardboard boxes that people haven’t collapsed.”
Resident Rohail Sheikh, 35, added: “There’s been an issue with people dumping big items such as fridges and TVs in the bin area.
“Large cardboard boxes and other things have also been left lying around instead of being placed in the recycling.
“It’s not always like that, but only because caretaker is quick to come and clean it all up.”
It comes after the 22-year-old Corrie star admitted someone had been forced to fish his rubbish out of recycling bin after he accidentally dumped boxes into the wrong spot.
Speaking on the Sofa Cinema Club podcast, Colson, 22, said: "My delivery boxes I get every week I can't recycle because they've got polystyrene and ice packs in.
"I just chuck it all into one big box, recycle the other, but chuck everything else into one big box and put that in the bin.”
Ben, 48, joked Colson's box is the size "of another flat”.
Somebody had fished all my rubbish out of the boxes and left the boxes. I genuinely, hand on heart, didn't realise I was doing something wrong

Colson, who plays Craig Tinker, added: "I feel like knocking on everyone's door and apologising.
"By the bins we saw two empty boxes that weren't in the recycling bin and I said, 'Ben, they're my boxes.'
"Somebody had fished all my rubbish out of the boxes and left the boxes. I genuinely, hand on heart, didn't realise I was doing something wrong.
"I think someone was peed off that it should've been put in the recycling bin.
"I'd filled up the cardboard box with rubbish and used the box itself as a bin and then chucked it in the bin. I thought it was [acceptable].”
The star went on that from the minute he left his apartment to get into the lift, to the minute he got out he kept his head down, saying: “I’m petrified.”
Several notices have been placed near the bin area by building managers, Emerson Management Services, about rubbish being left around.
One, which shows the area looking a mess, reads: “This is not the way to recycle.”
It says items such as ironing boards, TVs, fridges and cookers should not be dumped, adding: “Please do not treat this as a rubbish dump!!!
“It is every residents responsibility to keep the common areas clean and clear of refuse.
