It is believed he could have travelled to Glasgow after the alleged assault with cops now launching a murder probe.

Police had rushed to the home on Sunday night and found Caroline injured, as well as a 15-year-old boy.

And Northumbria Police today announced they had launched a murder investigation after Caroline died in hospital.

The teen boy, who is not related to Caroline, suffered serious injuries but they are not believed to be life threatening.

Robson, who is from Wallsend, is known to Caroline.

Superintendent Paul Milner, of Northumbria Police, said it had been a "complex" investigation.

He said: “We know that it has caused a great deal of concern, particularly the fact that a suspect in this case has not yet been arrested.

“I want to reassure you that this is being treated as an isolated incident and there is no information that suggests Paul Robson is a danger to the wider public."

Paul is described as white, around 5ft5in tall, of slim build, bald and he wears glasses.

He is believed to have travelled to Glasgow and search activity has been focused in the city in recent days.

A 58-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in police custody at this time.
