‘Frustrated’ Meghan Markle moaned ‘I can’t win’ after palace scolded her for wearing ‘H&M’ necklace, book claims

MEGHAN Markle moaned “I can’t win” after the Royal Family scolded her for wearing a necklace with the initials “H” and “M” on it, a new bombshell book claims.

The 38-year-old was spotted wearing the £184 14 karat gold necklace, believed to have been a gift from Prince Harry, while shopping in Toronto in 2016 – a month after their relationship was revealed.

Photographs showed the former Suits actress holding a bunch of flowers while smiling at the camera days after Harry visited her following his tour of the Caribbean.

However, Meghan received a dressing down from a palace aide just days after the images were published, according to a source close to the couple.

They said: “She was advised that wearing such a necklace only served to encourage the photographers to keep pursuing such images - and new headlines.”

The source added she spoke “very little” on the call and instead decided to just “simply listen to the counsel”.

Bombshell book claims include:

She later felt “frustrated and emotional” after hanging up and the conversation was “too much”, according to the source.

They added: “While she knew the aide had good intentions, the surreal experience of having someone from her boyfriend's office tell her what kind of jewellery to wear or not to smile at a photographer was too much.”

The pal said Meghan was “distraught” and phoned a friend to say “I can’t win”.

She added: “They make out like I'm to blame for these pictures, that it looks like I'm encouraging them, that me even acknowledging the cameras may not be sending the right message.

"I'M TO BLAME"

“I don't know what to say. It was only yesterday that people online were saying I look miserable in pictures, because I was trying to just ignore the [photographer].”

Extracts from the book, Finding Freedom, were published in People and Meghan is said to have “felt damned if she did and damned if she didn’t”.

The book claims Meghan sent secret love messages to Harry via Instagram before their relationship was made public.

Authors say she made her feelings known in subtle ways while the pair were apart - like posting a photo of her dog Guy wearing a Union Jack jumper.

Meghan also hinted at their blossoming relationship by posting a photo of Love Hearts sweets saying "Kiss Me" with the caption "Lovehearts in #London" - a possible message to Harry.

Finding Freedom, which is due for release in August, sheds new light on the intimate details of Meghan and Harry's relationship.

It tells how Meghan was driven to Harry's cottage in Kensington Palace for a cosy night in after he told a pal she was "ticking every box fast".

She had joked after a recent two-year relationship ended before her first visit to London, she'd be happy with "a nice English gentleman to flirt with".

"IN A TRANCE"

Harry was left "in a trance" after meeting Meghan for their first date, a pal claimed in the book.

The pair were "in their own little world" for three hours over beers and martinis at London's Dean Street Townhouse, after being introduced by a friend.

The book also details their fallout with the Royal Family and their decision to step down as working royals.

Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, who have co-written the tell-all biography, say Meghan "emboldened" Prince Harry to quit the Royal Family - but he already wanted to leave.

They claim Harry was "very much on board with distancing himself from the public eye" but needed someone strong enough to stand by his side.

Scobie told People: "Meghan emboldened Harry.

"He needed someone by his side that is strong enough to weather the same storms, but also someone who wasn't afraid of breaking the rules and going against the norm.

"What we see now is a couple doing things their own way."
