Domino’s to start delivering pizza to passengers travelling on the BUS

Hungry commuters can order by phone and have the pizza waiting for them at a bus stop during trial in Lancashire

DOMINO’S has announced it is to start delivering pizzas – to BUSES.

The takeaway giant announced its plan to begin offering the Italian fast food favourite to hungry commuters on the move.

It comes following a recent order that saw the firm deliver to a customer on a train.

And the move rang a bell with bosses who have now unveiled a trial service to the Catch 22 bus route serving Mereside to Cleveleys, near Blackpool, Lancs.

The orders need to be made via phone from a menu on the bus and will be waiting for customers when they arrive at their bus stop.

The idea proved popular with fast food enthusiasts.

Aaron Ryder, 20, a hotel worker from Fleetwood, was the first person to use the service and order a pizza on his 45 minute bus ride to work.

He said: "I was on my way to a lunchtime shift at work when the bus driver announced the new delivery service over the tannoy.

"I love a Might Meaty pizza and was pretty much straight on the phone to see if I could get it before my journey ended. I did and it was delicious."

David Woods, Domino's Blackpool operations director, said: "We love a challenge at Domino's and after successfully delivering pizza to a train we wanted to go one step further and offer people pizza to a bus.

"Passengers on the Catch 22 can curb their hunger by ordering a fresh, tasty pizza whenever and wherever they fancy."

Passengers ordering their food on the bus have been urged to take 'pizza selfies' using the #DominosPizzaBus hashtag for a chance to win a Domino's night in for them and their friends.

Domino's in Blackpool sells more than 10,000 pizzas a week and more than - half a million a year on the Fylde Coast, Lancashire.
