Abi Conroy, 23, has told of her terror at being chased by a creep in a gimp suit

He has managed to escape capture for nearly two years – despite 14 incident reports being filed to cops.

Abi Conroy, 23, said the stranger lunged at her while “grunting and breathing heavily”.

She said: “He kept coming towards me and was touching his groin, grunting and breathing heavy.

“As I tried to take a step back he was right in front of my face and he put his leg forward.

“I thought: ‘This is it, I’m going to get attacked’. Every time I close my eyes I just see that face.”

The attacker was first reported by locals in November 2018 with the last incident reported by Ms Conroy in July last year.

She previously told the BBC how the creep kept coming towards her while “touching his groin”.

The barber, who suffers from anxiety, said she is struggling to come to terms with the “scary” encounter in Claverham.

“It was a massive shock, I didn’t know if I was dreaming,” Abi told the Daily Mail.

“I’m just struggling at the moment.

“If I could speak to him now I’d want to know why he does what he does. Everything is running through my head, I’d want him to know just how scary it was.”

Two men have been arrested in relation to the gimp man attacks, but both were released without charge.

A Somerset and Avon Police spokesman said: “Detectives carried out a thorough investigation into a series of incidents in which a man wearing disguises approached people in the Claverham/Yatton area.

“Two men, aged 28 and 34, were arrested on suspicion of indecency offences but due to insufficient evidence were later released with no further action taken against them.”
