Married Police Scotland chief Gareth Blair dumped after ‘romping with ex-Hearts star’s wife in Edinburgh car park’

ROMP probe cop Gareth Blair has been dumped by his wife, we can reveal.

Raging Marcia, 49, booted him out of the family home after it emerged he was still seeing Claire Makel, 41 — said to be involved in his alleged park and ride tryst.

The top officer, 48, has been spending nights with Claire at a pad in Edinburgh.

A source said: “Marcia told him it was over.”

And pals have revealed his relationship with an ex-footballer’s wife has left behind a trail of “carnage”.

Mum-of-two Claire — married to former Hearts and Livingston ace Lee — is still living at her family home in Lauder, Berwickshire.

But we can reveal she spends evenings with Blair at his flat in Portobello, Edinburgh.

Friends claim the pair’s relationship has been a “public embarrassment” for Marcia, 49, and Hibs coach Lee, 46.

A source said: “They have been quite open about their relationship and have been seen out in public together and at the gym.

“It’s pretty shameless. They just seem to be getting on with it and not caring about the carnage that has been left behind.

“Claire is still living at the house in the Borders but spends nights at Gareth’s new flat.

“It’s a horrible situation for Lee and Marcia who have been left totally embarrassed by this. They are now picking up the pieces and trying to sort their lives out.”

We told in May how Chief Supt Blair — Edinburgh’s Divisional Commander — was suspended over the alleged romp at the city’s Hermiston park and ride.

Cops were called amid claims of “a couple in a state of undress”.

The police watchdog handed their report into the incident to prosecutors in July. But the case is still being considered.

Makel was arrested in June. It’s believed prosecutors are yet to receive a cop report on her.

Last week she was spotted entering Blair’s property using a key to open the two-bedroom flat.

After arriving in her white BMW she spent about a minute fumbling around in her bag to retrieve a set.

Soon after she went inside, Blair walked out the front door to put the bins out.

Makel’s car was still outside the following day then she left before midday.

It’s understood Blair has not been at the family home since shortly after the alleged romp.

A source said: “Gareth left the family home in Dunbar in June. After a few weeks he moved into a new flat on his own but then it came to light that he was still seeing Claire.

"She has been spotted at his house several times in recent weeks and it’s quite obvious they are in a relationship.”

Blair went on a golfing holiday with pals days after the alleged car park incident. He returned early for showdown talks with Marcia.

Days after jetting home he was suspended from duty.

He has enjoyed a glittering career in Scotland, Northern Ireland and London.

A biography on the police website describes the dad of one as a fitness fan who loves golf and holidays.

Blair was reported to the police watchdog and they have submitted their report to the Crown Office.

Police carried out an investigation into the alleged incident and have submitted a file to prosecutors.

Neither Blair nor Makel would comment.
