Convicted murderer Andrew Sharkey who was jailed for brutal stabbing found more than 24 hours after escaping from Dundee prison

Andrew John Sharkey, who was jailed for life at 21 after knifing a man in the chest so he could steal his fiance, has been traced by police

A CONVICTED murderer who viciously stabbed a love rival in the chest so he could steal his fiance has been traced more than 24 hours after escaping from prison.

Cops warned the public not to approach Andrew Sharkey yesterday after he went on the run from Castle Huntly open nick, near Dundee.

But he was found by cops last night.

In 2003, Sharkey admitted to stabbing Shahid Khan because he wanted Khan’s fiance.

Sharkey plunged a knife into Khan’s chest at a drunken party band told his fiance at the time: “I did it for you.”

Sharkey was jailed for life for the crime at the age of 21.
