Celtic starlet Ciaran Dickson arrested after Glasgow teen Aidan Pilkington killed in ‘hit-and-run’

CELTIC starlet Ciaran Dickson has been arrested after a teenager was killed in an alleged hit-and-run.

The footie ace, 19, was nicked by cops after Aidan Pilkington, 18, was found seriously injured in Crow Road, Glasgow, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He was rushed to the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital at around 12.20am but could not be saved.

Police launched an appeal in relation to the alleged incident and officers said a motor had been traced yesterday.

Dickson — who plays for the B team — was arrested on Sunday and released pending further investigation.

The midfielder, of Erskine, Renfrewshire, made his debut for last season and was handed a three-year deal in January.

But after a shock summer exit from Ibrox, the Scotland Under-19 cap was snapped up by rivals Celtic earlier this month.

Yesterday, Aidan’s shattered family told of their pain and revealed how he had planned to move to Dundee for university next week.

They said: “Aidan was treasured by his family, and well loved and respected by his friends and community.

“Aidan left Hyndland Secondary School in the summer, and was going to be moving to Dundee next Saturday to attend Dundee University.

“He created a bright future for himself and was really looking forward to these opportunities and challenges.

“It is very cruel that he has been robbed of his life in this way.

“The family would like to thank friends, in particular Aidan’s friends, and the wider community, for their love, support, and kindness.”

Shocked pals also paid tribute to the popular teen on social media as news of the tragedy spread.

A GoFundMe page set up by Aidan’s devastated colleagues at McDonald’s has raised more than £7,000.

Sergeant Scott Sutherland, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident.

“He’s been released pending further investigation.

“We would like to thank everyone who has got in touch with us so far regarding the appeal, and urge anyone who has information, but has yet to contact us.”
