Nigel Farage is lurking behind the scenes ready to mop up Keir Starmer’s mess

NIGEL Farage has the one commodity most politicians would die for - and it's called The Big Mo'.

The Reform leader has momentum behind the Reform UK machine and the main two parties don't know which way to turn.

But Farage stands today in a YouGov poll one point ahead of Labour and four points ahead of Kemi Badenoch's party.

No wonder they are left dazzled by their rise. It was Farage himself who said he could be Prime Minister in five years time.

Granted, it's just one opinion poll and it's within the margin of error and we're four years or so away from the next time voters take part in a general election.

Farage will be delighted at the energy the party is generating with a surge in party membership numbers and rallies packed out to the rafters.

The Reform outfit around Farage - including his deputy Richard Tice and Rupert Lowe - highlight how a presence in the House of Commons is paying dividends with their higher profile.

They no longer look like the rabble they once did. They can now both give the appearance of fighting the establishment and being part of the establishment.

It's only seven months since Reform gained four million votes at the general election and now this poll will give them much heart to push on.

They will target this year's local elections in May before moving on to Welsh Assembly and Holyrood elections next year.

What Farage and Reform need to do is create a plan for government if they are really serious about fulfilling his dream of entering Number 10.

And if he receives a cash injection from Tesla boss Elon Musk that will improve the Reform ground war.

And new party Treasurer Nick Candy doesn't seem short of donors snapping up £25,000 tickets for fund-raising events.

They will have to move just beyond immigration to convince millions of voters who are left bewildered by Labour and the Tories.

It's no wonder that the political hierarchy within the Labour party see their greatest threat for a second term coming from Farage.

If Sir Keir Starmer can't deliver his number one mission of growth and making people feel better off - there's one politician lurking to pick up the pieces.
