Rishi Sunak publishes tax returns showing how much he earned last year
The PM - who alongside wife Akshata Murthy has an estimated wealth of £529million - had committed to publish his tax returns
RISHI Sunak paid more than half a million pounds in tax last year, his return shows.
The PM coughed up £508,308 on the £2.2million he earned – an effective rate of 23 per cent.
A whopping £1.8million of his total income was capital gains on assets in 2022/23, up from £1.6million the previous year.
It was topped up by his £139,000 MP and ministerial salary and some investment shares.
All of the investment income and capital gains came from a US-based investment fund listed as a blind trust.
The former California resident separately paid 6,847 US dollars in tax from 45,646 US dollars of dividends that were taxed separately in the US in 2022.

This week Mr Sunak faced claims of being out of touch after making a £1,000 bet that Rwanda flights will take off before the election.
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt also revealed his own documents showing he paid £117,418 in tax from £416,605 income.
