My job is like being England manager – everyone has a pop but I don’t care about not being charismatic, PM tells Piers
The PM praised Gareth Southgate, insisting the England manager is doing an "incredible job"
RISHI Sunak today compared himself to Gareth Southgate, suggesting everyone likes to have a pop at his leadership.
Chatting exclusively to Piers Morgan, the PM said that as with the England manager “everyone is going to have an opinion“.
But he added: “That’s okay – it’s how it should be”.
Mr Sunak also admitted he and Mr Southgate banter over who has the toughest job.

He said: “I think Gareth has a tough job too, but he is doing a great job actually, an incredible job.
“And this is a tough job, it is tough because of the context that we were talking about and then obviously everyone is going to have an opinion, but that is fine! That’s okay. That’s how it should be.
“My job is to crack on, make a difference to people, focus on the things that matter to them, and then ultimately they will judge at the end of the day.”

Mr Sunak brushed off criticisms that he isn’t charismatic enough.
Asked who has more personality of himself and Sir Keir Starmer, the PM replied: “I’m not interested in that.”
He said the real battle shouldn’t be over charisma but rather who can deliver results.
“The battle that I want to win is who is more likely to bring about that positive change that I want to see,” Mr Sunak told Piers.
“I want them to realise that actually it’s me, with a plan that is working, and they can see that.
“In spite of how difficult things have been, the fact that we put a plan into place, it is starting to show progress, and that will give them the confidence that I can deliver the change they want.
“That’s the battle I want to win.”
