Brits still overwhelmingly back Ukraine to defeat Russia as the second anniversary of the invasion approaches

BRITS still overwhelmingly back Ukraine to defeat Russia - as the second anniversary of the invasion approaches.

A new poll found that 73 per cent of UK voters say it is important we support Volodymyr Zelensky in his fight against Putin’s Red Army.

This high level of support is unchanged since November, the survey by the More in Common think-tank found.

Over half of Brits - 58 per cent - say we are giving Kyiv about the right level of support.

The findings come after Rishi Sunak made a secret trip to Ukraine where he announced another £2.5billion in military aid.

The cash will be spent on new long range missiles, ammunition and an air defence system to help Ukraine beat back the Red Army.

Luke Tryl, UK Director, More in Common said: “As Sunak visited Kyiv this week Brits were as clear as ever - no ifs, no buts, we must make sure Ukraine wins this war.”

Speaking on his trip to Kyiv on Friday, the PM said: “I want to send a strong signal of support to the Ukrainian people but also a strong signal of support that Vladimir Putin needs to recognise we are not going anywhere.

“I’m here with one clear message: the United Kingdom stands with Ukraine.”

Over 2,000 Brits were polled for the survey.

Putin launched his invasion of Ukraine on February 24 2022.
