Keir Starmer vows to make Britain strongest growing economy in G7 – but is slammed for u-turns on national security
SIR Keir Starmer today vowed to make Britain the strongest growing economy in the G7 - but was slammed for constantly u-turning on promises.
In Manchester the Labour Leader launched his "five missions for a better Britain".

Echoing Rishi Sunak's five pledges for government, Sir Keir insisted he'd boost the economy, save the NHS, improve education, crack down on crime and tackle the climate crisis.
He blasted "sticking plaster politics" and "short-term obsessions that fixate Westminster".
And he pledged to find long-term solutions for Britain.
But the Labour Leader was grilled over how he can be trusted when so many historic promises have been shattered.

This morning, Sir Keir said he agreed with the High Court's decision to ban terrorist sympathiser and ISIS bride Shamima Begum from re-entering the UK.
But in 2019 the Labour Leader advocated for her return.
Sir Keir previously described his disgraced predecessor Jeremy Corbyn as a "friend".
But last week he banned the far-left politician from standing as a Labour MP at the next election.

And In 2018 Sir Keir passionately advocated for a second Brexit referendum.
But he's now u-turned on overturning the democratic mandate and conceded he'll make Brexit work.
Tory Chairman Greg Hands said: "Sir Keir Starmer has never made a pledge he intends to keep. He will say anything if the politics of that moment suit him.
"He lacks principles and has no new ideas – and that is how we know a Starmer Labour government would just revert to the same old Labour habits."
In Manchester the Labour Leader hit back at accusations he's untrustworthy.
"These are our missions, this is our way of working, and I'm very happy to have that tested," he said.
"If anyone wants to know if the public trust and want any of this, then there's a very good way to find out. Let's have a general election."
On Begum Sir Keir added: "National security has to come first. The court has looked at all of the material and come to a very firm conclusion and I support what the court has done.
"Under a Labour Government national security will always come first."
Discussing his plan for Britain, Sir Keir promised to lead a "mission-driven government".
“Not state control or pure free markets, but a genuine partnership, sleeves rolled-up, working for the national interest."
On the economy the Labour Leader insisted he'd unleash growth - "the oxygen for our ambitions, the lifeblood of a strong society and a successful economy".
And he promised to make Britain the fastest growing economy in the G7.

"Britain needs to create more wealth, needs to be more competitive," Sir Keir said.

"It must be powered by good jobs and stronger productivity in every part of the country."
The Labour Leader also promised to turn the UK into a "clean energy superpower" by 2030.
