Moment Matt Hancock is ‘pushed’ by man who followed him onto Tube, as cops arrest conspiracy theorist, 61, for ‘assault’
THIS is the moment Matt Hancock was harassed by a furious commuter on the Tube who branded him a “murderer”.
The former Health Secretary was followed through Westminster station by antivaxxer Geza Tarjanyi, 61, who berated his record during the pandemic.
Footage shows Tarjanyi laying into the Jungle star as he was ushered through the station by a TfL employee on Tuesday, shortly before 9am.
The dad-of-three hastily climbed onto a carriage after the aggressive bloke challenged him to a “gentlemen debate”.
His tactic of ignoring the heckler only riled the man up more, seeing him brand Hancock a “murdering b*****d”.
The TfL worker can be heard pleading with Tarjanyi to call time on the outburst while the frustrated MP takes a seat.
But he continues: “Matt Hancock! Midazolam murderer!
“That’s happy to go on Celebrity Get Me Out of Here – well, you’re a celebrity, get you in prison!”
Hancock gingerly responds: “Please stop harassing me.”
Tarjanyi proceeded to rip into the 44-year-old, referring to lockdowns and Covid restrictions before dubbing him a “lying son of a b***h”.
Commuters are seen looking on in horror as the bloke’s verbal rampage continued, before one spoke up in defence of the TfL staff.
Tarjanyi goes on to describe the pandemic as a “fraud” as the Tube made its way to Bond Street, before sitting himself next to Hancock to continue the grilling.
The former Health Sec then tells the heckler: “I don’t think this aggression is appropriate.”
Other explosive footage appeared to show the antivaxxer shove Hancock at the top of the escalator before the Tube row ensued.
The politician was filmed sternly saying: “Don’t push me. Don’t push me. You just pushed me.”
Tarjanyi has previously targeted Sajid Javid, Chris Witty and Jonathan Van-Tam.
Police announced a man in his sixties was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting the MP.
A spokesman for Hancock said he was fine after the episode.
He said: “Unfortunately Matt was subject to a very aggressive and unpleasant encounter with a dangerous conspiracy theorist on the London Underground.
“Both Transport for London staff and the British Transport Police were fantastic and the man has since been arrested.
“Fortunately this sort of behaviour is a rare occurrence, but it’s instances like this that reemphasise the importance of shutting down baseless misinformation which causes so much harm.
“Matt wants to put on record his thanks to TFL and the British Transport Police for their extraordinary work.”
British Transport Police said: “We received a report of a man being assaulted and harassed at Westminster Underground station at 8.47am yesterday morning.
“A 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of common assault and a public order offence and remains in custody. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
Hancock was a key decision-maker during the pandemic and received criticism for his vaccine rollout and lockdown restrictions.
He resigned after The Sun exposed his “hypocritical” affair with aide Gina Coladangelo – which breached his own guidelines.
The politician then controversially starred in I’m A Celebrity, coming third in the final behind Owen Warner and Jill Scott.
He has since been slammed for defending his own response to the pandemic, while laying into care home bosses, ex-No10 aide Dominic Cummings and a string of others in his new book, Pandemic Diaries.
