BE MORE BLAIR

Sir Keir Starmer channels Tony with plan to launch 1997-style pledge card

SIR Keir Starmer is  enjoying a popularity boom because he has “ditched the leftie b*****ks” and is “being more Blairite” his aides have boasted.

It comes as Sir Keir prepares to channel Tony Blair and unveil his very own 1997-style pledge card.

The nifty little cards contain five key promises to the public and were seen as key in helping New Labour storm to a landslide victory.

They were handed out on doorsteps and proved such a success they were done again in the 2001 and 2005 elections.

The Sun on Sunday can reveal that Team Keir are planning to launch their own version ahead of the next election - expected at the end of 2024.

Labour bosses hope the move will kill off claims they are wobbly and have no firm policies - a key Tory attack line.

Meanwhile, senior allies of Sir Keir were heard boasting that Labour’s popularity has soared because he is “turning up the Blairite rhetoric”.

One said Sir Keir is doing well because he is “ditching the leftie b*****ks” of the Corbyn years and “being much more Blairite”.

Recent polls put Labour around 25 points ahead of the Tories.

If this result actually happened at an election, Sir Keir would get the keys to No10 with a massive majority of nearly 200.
