BORIS JOHNSON has been shunned by EU leaders in a humiliating snub for the new Foreign Secretary.

The European Commission said a planned Brussels dinner between BoJo and counterparts from 27 other EU member states on Sunday night had been cancelled.

Two diplomats said Ministers felt it was inappropriate to have the dinner after the horrific terror attack in Nice.

But a third said few wanted to have dinner with the Brit – after he compared the EU to Hitler in the Referendum campaign.

One diplomat said: “The desire of the entire 27 countries to do something with the Brits was frankly not very strong.”

The source said several ministers felt the meeting was a “very bad idea”.

BoJo – in his first official visit since getting the Cabinet post – will instead have a one-to-one dinner with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini before a full Foreign Affairs Council on Monday.

Ministers are due to talk about China, security and migration – but not Brexit.

Boris Johnson’s shock appointment as Foreign Secretary sparked global mockery – but he hit back by insisting his French counterpart had already sent him a “charming” letter.

He was reportedly booed by some of the guests at a French embassy reception in London on Thursday night.
