Joey Essex accuses Nigel Farage of being ‘in your face’ after TV clash over EU referendum
Former Towie star has also accused fellow Brexiteer Boris Johnson of being 'a bit nutty'
THIS is the moment Joey Essex clashed with “fronty” Nigel Farage as the reality TV star tries to decide which way to vote in the EU referendum.
In a damning verdict on the Ukip leader, Essex accused him of being “quite in your face” and said he did not “really care about much” after their meeting earlier this year.
It is a far cry from the pair’s previous love-in on the general election campaign trail last year when the former Towie star endorsed Mr Farage as a “really, really reem guy”.
Essex has pursued leading figures on both sides of the EU debate around the country in a bid to educate young voters, interviewing Jeremy Corbyn, Boris Johnson and Mr Farage.
Speaking to Sky News after meeting the Ukip leader, he said: “He is quite fronty isn’t he? He is quite one of those people who is quite in your face a lot.
“He don’t really care about much.”
He went on to admit Mr Farage was a “nice guy”, but said “he is not a friend” and claims to have stood him up when the Ukip leader invited him for a pint.
In a sign he is leaning towards In, the reality TV star has also called fellow Leave campaigner Boris Johnson “a bit nutty” and was confused about “the whole bananas situation” after a series of controversial claims made by the former mayor of London.
He has claimed that Brussels bureaucrats have banned bendy bananas and prevent the fruit being sold in bunches of more than three – which Remain campaigners have dismissed as nonsense.
During his meeting with Labour leader Mr Corbyn, the 25-year-old caught out the Islington MP with a bug-eyed Snapchat filter as the pair urged young people to vote on June 23.
The EU special of Educating Joey Essex: What EU saying airs on ITV2 on Sunday at 8pm.
