Donald Trump dredges up old rape claim against Bill Clinton in bid to smear ‘enabler’ Hilary

Tycoon had been defending his own questionable relationship record

DONALD Trump has stepped up his slurs on Bill Clinton by dredging up an old rape accusation against the former president.

Defending his own record of relationships with women laid out in a New York Times article in an interview yesterday, he turned the spotlight on Mr Clinton’s murky past.

It came the day after he accused the former Democratic president of being the "worst abuser of woman [sic] in US political history."

Fox Sean Hannity led the Republican presumptive nominee down a line of questioning about Mr Clinton, saying: “Are they going to interview Juanita Broaddrick?

“Are they going to interview Paula Jones? Are they going to interview Kathleen Willey? In one case, it’s about exposure. In another case, it’s about groping and fondling and touching against a woman’s will.”

“And rape,” Trump responded.

“And rape,” Hannity followed up.

“And big settlements, massive settlements... and lots of other things,” Trump continued.

“And impeachment for lying, and losing your law license. You know, he lost his law license, OK? He couldn’t practice law. And you don’t read about this on Clinton.”

Broaddrick’s allegations date back to 1978. The alleged rape is said to have happened in a hotel room

Mr Trump was referring to Ms Broaddrick’s allegations dating back to 1999, when she publically accused Mr Clinton of raping her in an Arkansas hotel room in 1978.

The former president has always denied the claims.

It’s not the first time the real estate tycoon has raised Mr Clinton’s past relationships with women.

In January he branded Mr Clinton “one of the great women abusers of all time” before producing a video comparing the former president to Bill Cosby who has been accused by more than 50 women of rape, date rape, sexual battery and child sexual abuse.

He doubled down on the comments earlier this month, telling a rally in Washington that: “She’s (Hilary) married to a man who was the worst abuser of women in the history of politics.

“She’s married to a man who hurt many women.

“Nobody, perhaps in the history of politics, was worst to women or abused women more than Bill Clinton.”

In a bid to slur Hilary by association, Mr Trump has accused her of being an “enabler”.

Her campaign team hit back saying: “Hilary doesn’t care what he says about her.

“She will continue to call him out for his outrageous positions and divisive comments.”

The unprecedented attack came after a New York Times piece detailed Mr Trump’s alleged crass and crude behaviour towards a string of lovers.

M Trump’s ex wife Ivana Trump has also described sex with the reality TV star as being like “rape”, claiming she felt “violated” after one particular incident in 1989.
