Ex-Army chief blasts Corbyn for ‘backing our enemies’ & begs Boris to ‘support to US’ after Iranian airstrike

AN ex-Army chief has blasted Jeremy Corbyn for “backing our enemies” while urging Boris Johnson to give “maximum” military support to the US after its Iranian airstrike.
Colonel Richard Kemp accused the Labour boss of being a “mouthpiece” for the Iranian regime - after Mr Corbyn slammed “belligerent” Donald Trump for taking out general Qasem Soleimani at Baghdad Airport.
He told SunOnline: “[Jeremy] Corbyn can always be relied on to back our enemies over our allies and that is why he sides with Iran over the US.
“He was previously a paid mouthpiece of the same regime in Iran as Soleimani served by delivering acts of terrorism around the world.”

Mr Corbyn has previously faced criticism for his relations with Iran after he appeared on the nation’s state TV for fees of up to £20,000.
He was slammed in June last year as "pathetic" by then Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt after calling on the government to provide “credible evidence” that Tehran was behind attacks on British oil tankers.
Col Kemp’s comments come after Mr Corbyn condemned President Trump for bringing Iran and the US to the brink of war, following threats of "crushing revenge" by Tehran.
He tweeted: “The US assassination of Qasem Soleimani is an extremely serious and dangerous escalation of conflict with global significance.
“The UK government should urge restraint on the part of both Iran and the US, and stand up to the belligerent actions and rhetoric coming from the US.”

It is believed the PM had no forewarning about the Soleimani strike from Mr Trump, despite significant UK interests and 1,400 military personnel in Iraq and Syria.
But U.S. secretary of state Mike Pompeo claimed he discussed the decision to "take defensive action to eliminate Qassem Soleimani" with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab.
Mr Pompeo added that he is "thankful that our allies recognise the continuing aggressive threats posed by the Iranian Quds Force".
Mr Johnson has been spending his Christmas break in sunnier climes - but could face calls to return to Westminster after MPs blasted the drone strike as "reckless".
Col Kemp, a former COBRA chief and Britain’s commander in Aghanistan, has begged Boris to honour the Special Relationship and back Mr Trump over the attack.
The U.K. government should publicly back President Trump’s strike and also be ready to give the maximum possible military and diplomatic support to the US as the situation unfolds.

He told SunOnline: “The U.K. government should publicly back President Trump’s strike and also be ready to give the maximum possible military and diplomatic support to the US as the situation unfolds.
“Soleimani ordered the killing of many British as well as American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and it is right that he should have been made to pay the price for his murderous activities everywhere.”
