Jeremy Hunt says he’ll order MPs to work through the summer and cancel 5-week holiday to sort Brexit
JEREMY Hunt has put MPs on warning that he could CANCEL their 5-week summer break to make sure we're ready for Brexit.
The Foreign Secretary said that if he gets into No10 the traditional summer recess could be at risk to get an exit deal, or prepare to leave without one.
He's already said he would cancel all planned leave for civil servants if they aren't ready for us to leave without a deal in October.
And now he's gone a step further, saying MPs would be forced to stay in Westminster for weeks to make sure all the relevant laws are passed in time.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph he said: "I want to be absolutely clear that if we are going to leave without a deal on Oct 31, we have to be ready for that, then the Government must do everything it can to make sure that we are prepared.
"The preparations on the whole are in quite a good place. But I want to know that every Government department's plans are on time and on track.
"If there's legislation that needs to go through, and we need extra parliamentary time, then I would recall Parliament to do that."
And he hinted that he won't be taking a break of his own over the summer too.
Asked if he would cancel his own summer holidays if he were to be handed the keys to No10, he said: "If I'm prime minister, I very much doubt I'll be able to go away for anything more than a day here or a day there."
The next PM will have just over 100 days to try and speak to the EU, get a deal passed through Parliament, or get ready to leave with nothing.
The two men fighting to be the next Tory leader will have a huge task on their hands to get the EU to look again at the withdrawal deal, or will face the wrath of MPs who are hell-bent to stop a No Deal Brexit no matter what it takes.
Mr Hunt has said he will decide at the end of September whether to take Britain out without a deal or not.
But if we're on course for an agreement he could extend Brexit for the third time to have time to seal it off.

Boris is the current front-runner to become the next Tory leader, but Mr Hunt said he could pull off a shock win like the Leave campaign did in the referendum.
"People aren't expecting me to win. But this is a period where anything happens," he said.
But no matter what happens Brexit can be a "terrific success" he insisted.
"We are a great country, we have weathered much bigger storms than this before."
