Remainers hatch fresh plot to stop Brexit with THIRTY anti-Boris Tory MPs ‘set to vote down next PM’
REMAINER MPs plan to use Boris Johnson as a "recruiting tool" to block Brexit, it emerged today.
Euro fanatics believe they can win over up to 30 anti-BoJo Tory MPs to stop the new PM delivering a No Deal Brexit - and get him out of No10.
They are plotting to install a Labour MP such as Yvette Cooper in Downing Street so they can call a second referendum.
The anti-Brexit plan was dubbed a "Remain Parliament stitch-up" by furious Tories today.
Jo Swinson and Ed Davey, the two candidates to be next Lib Dem leader, both pledged to exploit opposition to Boris to try and win a so-called "people's vote".
They claimed pro-Remain ministers are ready to bring down the Government to stop Boris going for No Deal.
INSIDE TRACK
Ms Swinson said: "I know that there's Conservative MPs, many of them actually ministers who've been making the case within Government to have a People's Vote.
"I think the big question is when faced with the prospect of a Boris Johnson trying to push through No Deal, will they put the national interest ahead of the party interest?
"I think there are Conservative MPs who are prepared to do that."
She predicted BoJo would be a "recruiting tool" for the Lib Dems by pushing Remain voters into the party's arms.
Sir Ed said he would lead efforts to pass a no-confidence vote in the Tory Government, and replace it with a cross-party Government led by a Labour backbencher such as Ms Cooper or Hilary Benn.
The would-be Lib Dem boss said "25 to 30" Tories were willing to back the radical move.
And he dismissed Mr Johnson's plans to cut a better Brexit deal, saying: "Boris may go with his Battle of Britain suit to Brussels and get a semi-colon changed - that wouldn't be enough for Parliament."
Tory MP Bob Seely hit back at the anti-Brexit plot, blasting: "First, arrogant delusion. Second, it won't be a national government, but a Remain Parliament stitch-up."
Rory Stewart today confirmed he would vote to block a No Deal - but insisted he wouldn't support a no-confidence motion removing the PM from office.
But Dominic Raab, who is backing Boris, insisted it would be impossible for the Commons to rule out No Deal - saying: "If there is a motion passed by MPs which says 'uh-uh', it would have zero legal effect.
"A Prime Minister that is resolute about this - Boris has been, Jeremy hasn't - can get us out."
