BRITAIN should go all out for a No Deal Brexit - unless the EU begs us to come back to the negotiating table, Esther McVey said today.

The Tory leadership contender said she will immediately end Brexit talks if she becomes PM.

Instead she will aim to take Britain out on October 31 without a deal unless Brussels offers a much better deal instead.

Ms McVey's hardline stance is intended to show she is the ultimate Brexiteer candidate ahead of Boris Johnson and Dominic Raab.

She told Sky News today: "October 31 is the key date and we are coming out then, and if that means without a deal then that's what it means.

"We won't be asking for any more extensions. If Europe wants to come back to us, the door is open if they want a better deal.

"Time is limited, we have to make sure we are ready to leave."

The ex-Work and Pensions Secretary dismissed the idea of reopening talks on the existing Brexit deal.
She said: "They have said that withdrawal agreement is the only one they want."

Mr Raab said he would prioritise restarting talks on getting a better deal with Brussels - but insisted he's prepared for No Deal if necessary, even though the Commons is opposed.

He said: "It's very difficult for Parliament now to legislate against No Deal unless a Prime Minister is willing to acquiesce in this - and I'm not."

But Chancellor Philip Hammond insisted that the new PM won't be able to govern if they go for a No Deal.

He told the BBC: "I think it would be very difficult for a prime minister who adopted No Deal as a policy to retain the confidence of the House of Commons."

Dozens of Tories - and nearly all opposition MPs - would be fiercely against any attempt to leave without a deal.

But it's not clear whether or not they would actually be able to block it using parliamentary procedure.
