Fresh Labour war as Jeremy Corbyn DROPS support for second Brexit vote on official EU vote leaflets

The Labour party has erupted into another Brexit row after it airbrushed out its promise to give voters another say on staying in the EU

JEREMY Corbyn is facing fury from his own MPs today after he dropped support for a second Brexit vote from his own EU election leaflets.

The party erupted into a fresh civil war today after the flyers for the upcoming EU polls didn't mention the party's controversial row over another referendum, Huffington Post revealed.

The only mention of Brexit at all was on the back, with a few sentences saying: "The Tories handling of Brexit has left our country in crisis.

"Labour will keep a close relationship with the EU and protect workers rights."

And it says Britain would have a say in future trade deals - even though experts have cast doubt on that in the event we signed up to a customs union.

Even Shadow Brexit Secretary Sir Keir Starmer wasn't consulted on the flyer.

A senior shadow ministerial source added: "Keir is absolutely furious about the leaflet. He knows very well that it doesn’t reflect the party’s policy, the views of the membership or our candidates. It will have to change."

But this afternoon a Labour spokesperson said there were "a number" of different texts being used on leaflets - sparking rumours the party has different flyers in the North and South of the country to keep everyone on side.

They said: "There are a number of different texts for different leaflets in circulation, including for a freepost and for other campaign purposes. They all reflect existing party policy."

The Labour boss been desperately trying to keep his Remainer members on side while not rejecting MPs and northern voters who opted for Brexit in 2016.

After months of deliberations the party finally threw its weight behind another poll - but has made no plans to actually make it happen yet.

This is clearly a monumental and embarrassing f**k up

One senior Labour source told the website: "This is clearly a monumental and embarrassing f**k up."

One Labour member said it would "hand victory to Nigel Farage on a plate" by not mentioning a second vote.

Plaid MP Jonathan Edwards tweeted earlier: "A month before possible European elections and Labour don't know what their policy is on Brexit after three years of janus faced posturing."

Labour MP David Lammy earlier demanded that the leaflets be changed.

He said: "The way we win the European Elections is to offer a bold alternative to Brexit, not to pretend "a better deal with Europe" is possible."

Several MPs and MEPs are signing a letter calling on the leadership to include the guarantee of a second vote in their manifesto, which hasn't yet been released.

Labour's stop National Executive Committee are set to decide on the party's policies for the upcoming EU poll in the coming days.

Theresa May's said she doesn't want Britain to take part, almost three years after Brits voted to leave.

But if no Brexit deal is passed by MPs by then, she'll have no choice.

A Labour spokesman said last night: "This is a short pre-manifesto leaflet to introduce our candidates and set out our commitment to Leave and Remain voters to bring our country together.

“It highlights how the Tories’ chaotic handling of Brexit has left our country in crisis and how our MEPs will fight for proper investment in communities, housing, jobs and industries. Our full manifesto, which will address the issues of a Brexit deal and the circumstances of a referendum, will be published after the local elections."
