IT'S EUR FAULT

Diehard Remainers and Brexiteer rebels blasted for driving Leave voters into the arms of Nigel Farage

Top Tories hit out at hardliners who have refused to support a Brexit deal and forced Britain into the EU elections

HARDLINE Remainers and Brexiteers were today accused of pushing Leave voters into the arms of Nigel Farage.

The Brexiteer is favourite to come top in next month's Euro elections after Britain failed to leave the EU on time.

Today top Tories turned on the European Research Group diehards who've refused to vote for Theresa May's Brexit deal.

They also blasted Remainers who have empowered Mr Farage by trying to overturn Brexit altogether.

But bungling ministers also came under fire for "resurrecting the beast" and allowing the hard right a comeback by screwing up Brexit talks.

Mr Farage's Brexit Party has come top in a string of polls ahead of the European Parliament election.

The UK will have to take part if there still hasn't been a Brexit deal agreed by the Commons before polling day on May 23.

Sport Minister Mims Davies blasted: "So disappointing some people didn’t like democratic answer given and we haven’t been a Parliament that's delivered.

"Understand people feel strongly on both sides. But re-rise of UKIP and re-rise of Farage was completely avoidable. MPs must listen."

Nick Boles, who quit the party in frustration earlier this month, echoed her fury - saying: "Are Labour and Conservative MPs really going to stand by and let the European elections put wind in the sails of both groups of Brexit extremists?"

Ex-Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith suggested that Theresa May was responsible for failing to unite the party behind her Brexit plans.

He told the BBC: "If we fight the European elections, in one bound we will have raised the Brexit Party.

"What we don't want to do is resurrect the beast."

But some Tories have signalled support for Mr Farage's party in an open challenge to the PM.

Brexiteer Lucy Allan said: "Usual party loyalties will be eclipsed by the Leave vs Remain divide. It’s good to see strong candidates in the Leave camp."
