How Labour and Tory Remainer MPs promised to respect Brexit and broke every vow to their own voters

ALMOST three years have gone since 17.4million Brits voted for Brexit - and they still want it to happen.
But the same can't be said for several of the country's MPs, who despite promising to respect the result of the vote, have now changed their minds and are trying to frustrate it.
Some want to cancel Brexit altogether, others want to stop us leaving with No Deal - even though it was what they voted for when triggering Article 50 in the first place.
And both Labour and the Tories stood on a manifesto to respect the results of the referendum and deliver Brexit too.
June 2016: "I will respect the result. It's a dreadful decision. We have to make the best of it."
February 2019: "People understand that they were lied to. They were tricked and conned by the leaders of leave.
"We must say to the British people, ‘We have made a mistake. Let us bring this back to you so that you can make good the harm that we have done.'"
December 2016: "I really have no time for calls for a second referendum because I think it comes across as disrespectful to those who voted to leave."
April 2019: "Brexit has left people disgusted with politics. It’s ten times worse than the expenses scandal."
2018: "I voted in Parliament to support triggering Article 50 because I thought it was important to respect the referendum result".
April 2019: "I think that a No Deal Brexit would be deeply damaging to our constituents."
MAY 2017: "The decision of the electorate in the Referendum must be respected and I should support a reasoned process to give effect to it."
FEB 2019: "The public are not fools. The evidence is that they know well and by a growing margin that Brexit is an ill-fated venture and they want a say on the outcome.
"They are against no-deal because they know it is a risk-laden fantasy. My duty as an MP is crystal clear in trying to make sure they get both another say on Brexit and that no deal is prevented."
JUNE 2016: "I will be respecting the outcome of the referendum."
AUGUST 2018: "We are sleepwalking towards the edge of a cliff and we might find ourselves crashing out by accident. It might not be what anyone wants.
“Everybody has the right to change their minds. Brexiteers have nothing to fear if they are confident of their position."
2016: "We have a duty to accept and respect the outcome of the referendum on the 23rd of June."
FEB 2019: "We will support a public vote to protect us against what will be a damaging Tory Brexit, or worse, No Deal... I would vote for Remain."
2016: We on the Labour Benches respect the referendum result and accept that Britain must leave the European Union."
FEB 2019: "We will back a public vote in order to prevent a damaging Tory Brexit or a disastrous no deal outcome."
DEC 2016: "We are leaving the single market. We are leaving the customs union. We are going to have control over our own migration.
"We are hoping to be able to negotiate our own trade deals with the rest of the world. That's all pretty clear."
FEB 2019: "PM statement does what is needed to prevent no deal exit on 29 March and enables MPs to forge cross-party consensus on new way forward if PM's deal does not succeed on 12 March."
JULY 2016: "There are rules in a game, there are rules in an election, and unfortunately my side lost.
"The British public has voted to leave the European Union."
APRIL 2019: "Let's stop the clock, let's revoke Article 50.
"The deal that secures the most votes in Parliament should be one of the options put to the British public, with the option also of Remaining in the EU."
