NHS stockpiles 22 tonnes of baked beans to prepare for possible No Deal Brexit
The Welsh health service has stored up £4million of goods to make sure its supply chains don't get killed off
HEALTH bosses have stockpiled 22 tonnes of BAKED BEANS in case of a No Deal Brexit, it has emerged.
The Welsh NHS has filled a huge warehouse with emergency goods in the event its supply chains are disrupted.
Bureaucrats have ensured the health service could continue operating as usual for at least eight weeks.
The warehouse, in a secret location, was snapped up by the Welsh government ahead of Britain quitting the EU.
It's intended to make sure that hospitals never run out of supplies if we end up in a No Deal scenario.
As well as the 22,000kg of baked beans, the storehouse contains rubber gloves, swabs, toilet paper and hospital gowns.
Tinned tomatoes are also being stockpiled to ensure patients still get their meals.
In total there are around £4million worth of goods inside the warehouse.
Mark Roscrow of NHS Wales : "It's about 47,000 square feet, that's about 5,000 pallets, it represents around 1700 product lines.

"At the moment the stock value is about £4million and that's typically about eight weeks of stock that would normally be used in that sort of period across the whole of NHS Wales.
"It's everything from medical items - syringes, dressing, needles, cleaning materials, through to toilet rolls - the sort of thing the NHS relies on day in day out to operate."
No Deal Brexit seems increasingly unlikely to happen after Theresa May pledged to delay Brexit rather than quitting without a deal.
