He claimed to be leading a "fightback" against Remainer politicians who refuse to deliver Brexit.

Theresa May today requested a delay to Brexit lasting until June 30.

That would mean Britain taking part in the EU elections on May 23, unless the Commons secures a Brexit deal before then.

Mr Farage told Sky News: "I'll be leading the Brexit Party into those European elections as it now looks certain they will happen.

"Am I happy about it? No I'm not - actually I've got many other things in my life I'd like to do, I thought we'd won the Brexit battle but I'm not going to after 25 years of endeavour watch British politicians roll us over.

"This is the fightback and they're going to be very surprised by what they get."

He has been a member of the European Parliament for 20 years.

Mr Farage quit Ukip last year in protest at the party's turn to the far right and increasing level of anti-Muslim rhetoric.

He took over as leader of the Brexit Party after its founder quit because she was exposed making racist comments.
