Donald Tusk’s insulting message in support of the 6million who signed petition to cancel Brexit
DONALD Tusk has sent an insulting message in support of the 6 million who have signed a petition to stop Brexit.
The EU Council boss begged the representatives of the other 27 countries to be "open to a long extension" so a second referendum can be held or Brexit can be stopped.
He claimed they needed to listen to the people who signed the petition and the one million who marched for another vote on Saturday above the 17.4million who opted to leave the EU in 2016.
Writing on Twitter he said: "Appeal to EP: You should be open to a long extension, if the UK wishes to rethink its strategy. 6 million people signed the petition, 1 million marched.
"They may not feel sufficiently represented by UK Parliament but they must feel represented by you. Because they are Europeans."
Brussels bosses have long wanted us to ignore the result of the referendum and change our minds.
Today Michel Barnier said we can still stay in the EU if we want, and Mr Tusk has made no secret that he wants us to have another referendum or an election and change our minds.
EU leaders have said they want us to "rethink" the Brexit strategy if we can't pass the deal in the next few days.
They've allowed us an extension to Brexit until May 22 if the deal passes, but only until April 12 if it doesn't.
That gives the PM just days to force it through or face a long delay - possibly of up to a whole YEAR.
And a delay would open the door to another referendum or an election to try and break the deadlock too.
Tonight MPs are voting on what they think the Brexit plan B should be - but most of the options are for a softer Brexit than is currently on the cards with Mrs May's deal.
She's hoping that the threat of a worse Brexit or no Brexit at all will force them into backing her beleaguered deal.
Mr Tusk has long held opposition to Brexit.
He caused uproar last month when he said that there was a "special place in hell" reserved for Brexiteers who campaigned to leave without a plan in place at all.
