Channel Tunnel WILL stay open in a No Deal Brexit, EU confirms despite Project Fear warnings
The European Commission said the Channel Tunnel would stay open as now for at least three months
CHANNEL Tunnel trains WILL continue running evening if there's a No Deal Brexit, the EU confirmed today.
The Eurostar and Eurotunnel services will be safe for at least three months even if we crash out without a deal.
The move comes despite dire warnings that the Tunnel could be shut down immediately in case of a No Deal.
Plans to keep the trains running were confirmed today by the European Commission, headed by Jean-Claude Juncker.
Trains through the Tunnel are currently governed by EU-wide rules which safeguard travel between member states.
Eurocrats said today that for an initial three months, they would treat the services the same as if Britain were still a member.
The Commission said: "Today's proposal will ensure the validity of safety authorisations for certain parts of rail infrastructure for a strictly limited period of three months to allow long-term solutions in line with EU law to be put in place.
"This is, in particular, related to the Channel Tunnel and will be conditional on the United Kingdom maintaining safety standards identical to EU requirements.

"This will ensure the protection of rail passengers, the safety of citizens and will avoid major disruptions of cross-border rail operations and shuttle services after the UK's withdrawal."
The plans are a boost for "managed No Deal" advocates who insist that leaving the EU without a withdrawal agreement wouldn't destroy the economy.
Last September, France's Europe minister claimed a No Deal would mean the Channel Tunnel shutting down entirely.
