RAP ON 'LAB' TALKS

Iain Duncan Smith warns Theresa May against passing her Brexit deal with the help of Labour

The former Conservative party leader has accused the PM of 'living in a mad place' if she decides to engage in talks with Labour over her Brexit deal

FURIOUS Brexiteers have warned Theresa May she will split the Tory party in two if she begins talks with Labour to pass her Brexit deal.

The PM made an overture to opposition MPs to end Parliament’s deadlock after winning a confidence vote in her leadership on Wednesday night.

Standing on Downing Street’s steps, she called for “politicians on all sides coming together and acting in the national interest”.

But former Conservative leader Iain Duncan-Smith said yesterday: “If you think you can reach out to the Labour party with the leadership they have got at the moment, you must be living in a mad place.

“There is no way on earth the public want to see us deal with the Labour party.”

IDS instead demanded Mrs May sit down with Tory rebels.

But former Cabinet minister Nicky Morgan insisted: “She’s going to have to appeal to MPs on all sides of the house.

“She has to realize there are some on our backbenches who are irreconcilable to either having any deal or having anything like the deal that’s on the table.”
