JEREMY Corbyn would secure a better Brexit deal than Theresa May because there’s such a “positive atmosphere” when he’s in the room, a chief ally claimed yesterday.

Labour Shadow Attorney General Shami Chakrabarti said the arch leftie would “certainly do better” than the PM - and could settle it all within the next three months.

Speaking to the BBC she said: “I’ve been in the room when Jeremy Corbyn has met various European counterparts and it’s such as positive atmosphere.

“At this moment I certainly believe we would do better as we have such a closer relationship in terms of standards and values and benefits in human rights and workers’ rights.

“It would give us a better opportunity.”

She added: “We are internationalists and believe in human rights and workers’ rights. That makes a real difference I think.”

Labour claims it would seek to remain in a “comprehensive” customs union with the EU – giving up the right to strike trade deals with the rest of the world – and push for full access to the single market.

Ms Chakrabarti claimed some senior Tories would push Mrs May out she suffered a “substantial” defeat as they want to be PM – and believe they could do a better deal.

And she admitted that under Labour an extension in Article 50 “can’t be ruled out”. She said: “It can’t be ruled out because the clock is ticking.

“I think there would be time if Mrs May heard what happened in the House of Commons last night and decided to think again and go back to her European colleagues right now and not wait until next week.”
