Comeback Cabinet minister Amber Rudd tells ‘Pizza Club’ plotters intent on re-shaping Theresa May’s Brexit deal to ‘go back to their corners’
AMBER Rudd last night blasted the ‘Pizza plotters’ intent on changing the Prime Minister’s Brexit plans.
The new Cabinet Minister took aim at senior colleagues who want re-shape the deal ahead of an EU summit next weekend.
She targeted the group led by Commons Leader Andrea Leadsom who have met up in her Parliament office over takeaway pizza.
She said: “They are trying to influence the further shaping of the deal, but from what I understand there’s no opportunity to do that. Remember what we’re trying to do, which is to govern.”
Rudd, who reveals to enjoying evening whiskies with the PM and husband Philip, also hit out at Eurosceptic Tory MPs including Jacob Rees-Mogg who have sent in letters of no confidence in the leader.
She said: “I hope they go back into their corners and we can get on with doing what we’re expected to do, which is delivering a Brexit I hope will protect the economy.”
Rudd, forced to quit over the Windrush scandal, said nothing could be “madder” just ahead of next Sunday’s Brussels summit.
When she received a call from Downing Street she feared she would be asked to be Brexit Secretary. She said: “A tiny part of me did think f*** me, maybe it is, which had me slightly anxious.”
