They have been keen to get Her Majesty’s take on everything from the couple’s private jet controversies to her great-grandson Archie.

As a result some arriving at Balmoral this summer have been quietly advised by flunkies to avoid the subject — although it is not part of official protocol.

A source said: “Courtiers were aware the Sussexes are all anyone wants to ask her about.

“So to nip it in the bud some have taken to having a quiet word with some guests awaiting an audience with the Queen.

“They suggested that questions around Harry and Meghan may not be the best choice as a topic of polite conversation.

“Naturally it’s informal rather than any official policy and there’s no suggestion the Queen is even aware.”

Respected journalist Quentin Letts tweeted: “Friend of an acquaintance was about to go riding with HMQ. Was given v firm advice. ‘Talk about anything except one subject.’ Brexit? ‘No. The Sussexes.’”

SUSSEXES OFF LIMITS

Letts, who writes for The Sun and other media, declined to give further details.

Buckingham Palace said it does not comment on private or public audiences with Her Majesty.

A royal insider was sceptical guests would get such a warning, saying: “I’d question the veracity of these reports.”

Harry and Meghan came under fire this summer over taking four private jets in 11 days after Harry gave climate change prevention speeches.

Meghan today posted a tribute on Instagram to mark Harry’s 35th birthday.

She wrote: “Your service to the causes you care so deeply for inspires me every day.

Plinth Philip

A STATUE of Prince Philip could be commissioned for the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square — currently used for art installations.

Secret negotiations have taken place between officials for a memorial statue to be erected there after his death.

Philip, 98, has become the longest-serving consort in British history.

One source told The Sunday Times: “A statue of the Queen on the fourth plinth was the original plan.

“But in the past couple of years everyone has been made aware that it could also be for the Duke of Edinburgh.”

“You are the best husband and most amazing dad to our son. We love you. Happiest birthday!”

There was also a collage of snaps, including a new one from Archie’s christening in July.

The Queen was seen today with Prince Andrew at Balmoral.

  • Meghan was invited to be a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK — but could not go on the cult show as she was heavily pregnant at the time, it has emerged.
