Al-Qaeda leader calls for attacks on Americans and Europeans in chilling new video on 9/11 anniversary
AL-QAEDA'S leader posted a disturbing video vowing to to unleash new massacres in the US on the 18th anniversary of 9/11.
Aymal al-Zawahri called on all Muslims to attack American, European, Israeli and Russian targets around the world.
The jihadi supremo, 68, told followers the American military "has a presence all over the world" spreading corruption and that countries had been "littered" with their bases.
Zawahri also blasted "backtrackers" from their holy war criticising them for changing their views on the 9/11 attacks that killed almost 3,000 people.
He was furious some jihadis now viewed the 2001 atrocity as "unacceptable" due to the deaths of innocent civilians.
In a rambling 33 minute speech produced by the group’s media arm, as-Sahab Media Foundation, he said: “If you want Jihad to be focused solely on military targets, the American military has presence all over the world, from the East to the West.
“Your countries are littered with American bases, with all the infidels therein and the corruption they spread.”
The speech was revealed by SITE Intelligence Group, which tracks online jihadist activity.
Al-Zawahri references President Donald Trump's recognition of the Golan Heights as Israeli territory, which was announced on March 25, giving some indication of around when the video may have been taped.
He called on Palestinians to seek “martyrdom” by launching suicide attacks against Israelis in response.
Al-Zawahri, an Egyptian, became leader of al-Qaeda following the 2011 killing of Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan by U.S. Navy SEALs.
He is thought to be hiding somewhere in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border regions.
A UN report released in July claimed he was “in poor health” but provided no specifics.
'SMASH THE TALIBAN'
His remarks came as President Trump vowed to to smash the Taliban “harder than ever” as America remembered the world changing attacks.
Trump also blamed the Taliban, which is continuing its bid to take over Afghanistan, for suddenly cancelling planned peace talks at Camp David.
This followed the death of a US soldier in a suicide car bombing in Kabul last week.
Speaking at the Pentagon today, where he was commemorating the September 11 atrocity, the President said: "We had peace talks scheduled a few days ago.
"I called them off when I learned they had killed a great American soldier from Puerto Rico and 11 other innocent people.
"They thought they would use this attack to show strength, but actually what they showed is unrelenting weakness. The last four days.
"We have hit our enemy harder than they have ever been hit before, and that will continue."
He added: "If, for any reason, they come back to our country, we will go wherever they are, and use power, the likes of which the United States has never used before."
They will never have seen anything like what will happen to them
US President Donald Trump
Trump said he was "not talking about nuclear power" but the Taliban "will never have seen anything like what will happen to them”.
This could include using what has been dubbed Mother of All Bombs (MOAB) which is officially called the GBU-43 Massive Ordnance Air Blast.
The weapon, the most powerful non-nuclear bomb, was last used in Afghanistan in 2017 on ISIS jihadis holed up in caves in the Nangarhar province.
