eBay users got an eyeful after hackers changed the company’s email profile image to a naked woman
SHOCKED eBay users got an eyeful when hackers changed the global firm’s email profile image to show a half-naked woman.
Shoppers getting notifications on Microsoft’s Outlook mobile app saw a picture of a topless brunette wearing just a thong and stockings.
They voiced varied reactions on social media to the image, which first appeared late last week.
David B wrote: “Love the email profile photo. Does she work at your customer service department. If so I have a few things I need sorting out.”
Liz Grogan said of the image: “Is that for real?? I mean, I’m sure she’s lovely, but not what I was expecting with an email about a baby product I want to buy.”
Tahinawrites wrote: “Is ebay being hacked?? I just received emails from ebay with an inappropriate profile picture?!! This is unacceptable. #ebay #disgusting.”
EBay implied the hack was due to an issue with Microsoft.
A spokesman said: “We are in touch with Microsoft — one of our email service providers in the UK — who are investigating the root cause of the matter.
“Microsoft have assured us that they’re taking all the necessary steps to address the issue.”
