Asia-inspired restaurant chains like Wagamama and Itsu are packing more than a day’s sugar into meals
ASIA-inspired restaurant chains are packing more than a day’s sugar into main meals.
Dishes at Wagamama, YO Sushi! and Itsu are close to or exceed the NHS’s recommended 30g limit for adults.
Wagamama’s Firecracker Chicken Curry has 31.2g and Itsu’s No Meat Mondays salad has 25.3g.
YO Sushi! Korean Fried Chicken dish has 23.6g.
The British Dietetic Association said the levels were “of real concern for obesity levels, general health and dental health”.
Katharine Jenner, of Action on Sugar, said: “You’d hardly believe these meals were so high in sugar. It’s very concerning.”
