Dog appears goggle-eyed in terror as her favourite toy spins in the washing machine in viral fake that fooled the internet

A DOG appears goggle-eyed with terror at seeing her favourite toy whirling around in the washing machine in this photoshopped viral picture that fooled the internet.

Seven-year-old pooch Gracie had her favourite toy, named Cookie, snatched by her owner who wanted to give the toy a clean.

The image was originally thought to be a snap of dog Gracie as her beloved toy spun around in the washing machine.

However after a closer look, eagle-eyed social media users discovered that the image was edited.

Gracie's eyes are completely normal-looking in the non-touched up picture when looking at the camera from beside the machine door.

But the dog's owner Jessica Bernhardt, 48, photoshopped the image to add whites to Gracie's eye to make her look even more shocked.

Jessica may have edited the eyes by cutting from an image of a person before superimposing it on to Gracie.

Cookie, who has been Gracie's friend for more than five years, was seen revolving in the washing machine while the owner snapped up Gracie's reaction.

The pup’s owner Jessica had put Cookie in the wash, but ended up bursting into laughter when she spotted her dog’s shocked expression.

INTERNET FOOLED

Gracie waited an hour for the cycle to finish before being reunited with her beloved toy, and promptly snatched her back into her safe and sound jaws.

Since mum-of-two Jessica shared the funny picture of shocked Gracie on Instagram it’s gone viral racking up more than a whopping 4,000 likes and comments.

Most who saw the edited pic believed it was the real deal, and were stunned to see a dog's eyes be so surprised.

However people caught on as more and more social media users made the editing discovery.

Jessica, from Hamburg, Germany, told : "Cookie the toy was looking a little bit dirty and in need of a wash, which is why I put it in the washing machine."

She added: "Gracie trotted into the kitchen and looked very surprised when she realised where her favourite toy Cookie was.

"As soon as I saw her expression I found it very funny, it made me laugh so much.

"Cookie usually carries it everywhere with her – she’s had it for five years – so obviously missed her while she had a wash."
