Jacob Rees-Mogg taunts Remainers trying to block No Deal Brexit saying they are ‘too scared to risk an election’

JACOB Rees-Mogg has baited Remainers to bring down the Government and spark a General Election. 

The staunch Boris Johnson ally, who sought the Queen's approval for the dramatic parliament suspension last week, said they were “too scared” to risk one - as Jeremy Corbyn is too unpopular.

MPs were said to be plotting a vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister to prevent a no deal Brexit. 

But is now predicted that in an expected Commons clash on Tuesday, opponents of no- deal will try to seize control of the parliamentary agenda to force the PM to seek a Brexit extension beyond October 31.

Writing in the Mr Rees-Mogg said this showed opponents were “too frightened” to spark a General Election.  

He said:  "They dare not use the confidence procedures because they know that Jeremy Corbyn is too unpopular, and therefore they seek deceitful ends by underhand means."

As Bojo announced his decision to prorogue Parliament for nearly five weeks next month in order to deliver Brexit, polls suggest his lead over Labour has doubled in just three weeks. 

And he warned rebel Tory MPs today that if they fail to back him they risk plunging the country into chaos under Corbyn.

In his first newspaper interview since becoming Prime Minister in July, Mr Johnson told th: "I just say to everybody in the country, including everyone in parliament, the fundamental choice is this: are you going to side with Jeremy Corbyn and those who want to cancel the referendum?

"Are you going to side with those who want to scrub the democratic verdict of the people - and plunge this country into chaos."
