AN Instagram couple who sparked outrage by splashing their bums with holy water at a temple in Bali have been forced to pray and perform a "purification ritual".
Sabina Dolezalova was filmed lifting up her skirt and bending over in front of a sacred water spout while boyfriend Zdenek Slouka splashed her at the Beji Temple in the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary.
Slouka is seen using his hand to spray water over her buttocks before playfully slapping her seemingly bare behind twice.
The clueless couple, who are Instagram 'stars' in their native Czech Republic, then both start giggling for the camera.
The two were blasted for their antics, with Bali governor Wayan Koster warning that tourists behaving in a similar manner in future would be kicked off the Indonesian island.
"If any tourists act like that in the future, we're just going to send them home," he said.
On Thursday, the couple sort to make amends by returning to the temple to take part in a purification ritual.
The two, dressed in traditional clothing, looked sombre as they pressed their hands to their heads and sipped holy water in a ceremony led by a Hindu priest.
Speaking afterwards, Slouka said: "I'm really glad that we had the opportunity to purify this place and now I would like to say thank you to all the Balinese people because they were very kind to us."
Dolezalova added: "We are sorry... and we hope that no one will do something similar again."
Bali senator Arya Wedakarna told AFP: "They made a mistake sullying our island.
"Anyone who violates our traditions must take part in a purification ritual."
The couple have some 85,000 followers on Instagram, and after sharing the video received floods of criticism from Indonesians offended by their actions.
